CEDAR TREES IN LITOCHORO

The burning of cedar trees, a custom that goes back a long way, is one of the most interesting in our prefecture.  The people of Litochoro cut and gather cedar trees for a month in order to burn them on the last Sunday of February during the Carnival. It is believed that the burning of cedar trees banishes evil spirits, therefore protecting the people. Watch the custom in the video that follows:
